Independent R&D lab

From circuit
to cognition.

Xyraen Labs is an independent lab building the tools we wish existed. We work across robotics, electronics, servers and AI, on hardware we own and software we can read to the last line.

LUNA

A personal AI assistant that lives on hardware we own. LUNA runs on a small server in the lab, talks to its own Android client, coordinates the AI coding agents that build it, and is growing voice satellites so it can be spoken to from any room.

How we work

Principles we actually build by

Own the hardware

If it matters, it runs on a machine in the lab. No rented brain, no quiet dependency on someone else's uptime.

Read every line

We prefer systems we can inspect end to end. When we can't, we write our own.

Ship to the bench first

Everything is used daily inside the lab before it is offered to anyone else. Real use finds what demos hide.

Research areas

Four disciplines. One program that ties them together.

LUNA is the lab's active program and the reason the other three exist. Each area below shows what is live today and what is next on the bench.

01 · Artificial intelligence

Intelligence you can unplug

We build assistants that are local-first: the reasoning, memory and tool use live on hardware in the lab, with cloud models used as a choice, never a requirement.

On the bench

  • LIVELUNA Core. The conversational brain: reasoning, long-term memory and the actions it can take on the lab's systems.
  • LIVEAgent operations. AI coding agents work on LUNA's own codebase under a progress and approval system, so every change is logged and reviewed.
  • NEXTSpeech pipeline. Offloading recognition and synthesis to a stronger local machine so the small server stays the brain.
02 · Servers & infrastructure

A private cloud we can explain

The LUNA platform runs on self-hosted services: containers, single sign-on, workflow automation and home control, all on the lab's own network.

On the bench

  • LIVELUNA platform. Containerised services on a single-board server with identity, automation and monitoring.
  • LIVERemote operations. Encrypted access to the lab from anywhere, with session visibility for the agents that work on it.
  • NEXTResilience. Verified backup and restore, headroom on memory, and a second node for the heavy workloads.
03 · Electronics

Hardware that listens

Voice is how LUNA leaves the screen. We are evaluating open hardware satellites with real microphone arrays, then designing the boards we can't buy.

On the bench

  • NEXTVoice satellites. Open-hardware speakers with far-field microphones, speaking the lab's own protocol instead of a vendor's.
  • NEXTSensor boards. Small custom PCBs that give LUNA eyes and ears around the lab.
  • PLANPower & enclosures. Making the hardware something you would actually put on a shelf.
04 · Robotics

Giving the brain a body

Robotics is the destination, not the starting point. Once LUNA can hear, remember and act reliably, the next step is a platform that can move.

Roadmap

  • PLANMobile platform. A research rover carrying LUNA's senses, navigating the lab on its own.
  • PLANManipulation. Simple arms and grippers for the tasks that keep coming up.
  • PLANSafety first. Every motor behind the same approval system that already governs the software.

What's on the bench

One program is live. Everything else is queued behind it, in the order we intend to build it.

Electronics · AINext

Voice satellites

Far-field microphone speakers running an open protocol, so LUNA can be spoken to from any room without a vendor in the loop.

AI · ServersNext

Speech pipeline

Recognition and synthesis on a stronger local machine, feeding the small server that stays LUNA's brain.

ServersNext

Second node

A compute node for the heavy workloads, with verified backup and restore for the whole platform.

ElectronicsPlanned

Sensor boards

Small custom PCBs that give LUNA presence, temperature and motion sensing around the lab.

Robotics · AIPlanned

Mobile platform

A research rover that carries LUNA's senses and navigates the lab on its own. Robotics begins when the brain is ready.

Robotics · ElectronicsPlanned

Manipulation

Simple arms and grippers for the small tasks that keep coming up, behind the same approval system as the software.

About the lab

An independent lab building the tools we wish existed.

Xyraen Labs started with a simple frustration: the most interesting technology was either locked inside someone else's cloud or spread across tools that didn't talk to each other. We wanted an assistant that ran on hardware we could touch, a server stack we could explain, and electronics we could fix with a soldering iron.

So we built a lab around that idea. Today it is a small, focused operation with one active program, LUNA, and a roadmap that moves deliberately from software to hardware to machines that move. Everything we make is used inside the lab first.

We are open to collaborators, hardware partners and people who want to see what a fully owned stack looks like in practice.

Independence

No single vendor can switch the lab off.

Transparency

Every change is logged, reviewed and reversible.

Daily use

If we won't live with it, we don't ship it.

Patience

Robotics waits until the brain is ready.
